The region is divided into three main sectors, the Resort, also called Mountain or Pedestrian Village located at the base of the mountain, the Old Village at Lac Mercier, which is the original Town of Tremblant and finally the St. Jovite sector (downtown), which was renamed Ville de Mont Tremblant several years back as part of a local merger of the region. The population of the greater Tremblant area has grown to over 10 thousand full time residents over the years but during peak season the population swells by as many as 40 thousand welcomed visitors.
